My name is Richard J Dalton, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the Central Nevada Desert and Tonopah.

A little about me: For the past two decades, I've worked in public radio in Seattle. Currently, I manage a nationally syndicated radio program funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I've produced approximately 20 full-length mix CDs and am primarily recognized as a nightclub and radio mix-show DJ. I've had the opportunity to DJ live with numerous artists I respect; I've even opened for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.

I have accolades! I was named "Best Hope for High-School Freaks" in 2009 and "Best Club DJ" in 2011 by the alternative newspaper Seattle Weekly.

I also have a purple beard.

In 2021, I seized an opportunity when the FCC auctioned a commercial radio frequency in Tonopah. Intrigued by the town's eccentricity (including a clown-themed lodging establishment), I pursued and eventually won the license.

Seeking a permanent home for the station, I acquired 5 acres adjacent to downtown Tonopah through a distress sale. Over the next three years, I dedicated every spare moment and resource to constructing the station, now powered entirely by solar energy. We hit the air in 2024.

My affection for the Tonopah area has grown immensely over these years, captivated by its myriad curiosities and charm. After exploring various formats, Nevada.FM emerged as the chosen format, though I still harbor plans for an auxiliary channel for one of the others I developed.

My favorite things to do include getting coffee at the Belvada, hitting up the CNV Museum and watching the sunset from the valley overlook where the station is located. Oh, and spying interesting people who come to town to shoot Instagram content.

Looking ahead, I'm excited about making Tonopah my home. I'm about to start renovating one of the two cabins I recently acquired. Exploring the eccentric and delightful offerings of the Tonopah area has been a joyous journey in itself.
